March was a record breaking month for us and I’m excited to report that we made $403! Considering when we started in September 2015 our income was $26, we’re very proud of our growth so far. If you are interested in starting your own site, read our post on How to Setup a Self Hosted WordPress Website. Our aggressive end of the year goal is to generate enough income to cover the expenses that month, which we estimate to be about $2,700. Below is the full breakdown of our March 2016 income report.

March 2016 Income Report:
Once again, Amazon affiliate was our best income source, but it is also the most unpredictable. Amazon increased from $81 to $184, a 127% increase. Since we have no control on when purchases are made, how much is spent and whether items will be returned, it’s hard to know how much we’ll make through Amazon until the month is over. It will be interesting to see where we end up at the end of April.
Unlike the 300% increase we saw last month, Google AdSense grew 41%. Traffic to the website continues to grow and we expect to see a steady increase in ad revenue. We still had days where we made less than a dollar and one or two days where we reach double digits. As mentioned in the last report, since we cannot control the number of ad clicks, we continue to focus our efforts on growing traffic to the site.
YouTube grew 97% from $72 to $142 as a result of continued growth in the number of subscribers and total views. We also received $5 in Fan Funding in March, which was a wonderful surprise!

My wife cherishes even the smallest amount of money we save or make and puts in in a way I can easily understand and says – “$4 or even $40 may not be a lot of money but imagine how much lbs of coffee it can buy you.”
